Colonial Dames XVIIC Century - The Thomas Joslin ChapterThe Thomas Joslin Chapter, CDXVIIC, organized in 1998 and chartered in 1999 to protect and preserve the history of Colonial times. Any woman, who is 18 years of age and had a colonist ancestor in the New World which became the United States prior to 1701, is eligible for membership.             The organizing president, Vircy Macatee, had the privilege of suggesting a name for the chapter and she chose her colonist, Thomas Joslin to honor.            Thomas Joslin, his wife Rebecca Marlowe and their children arrived in the colony of Massachusetts on the ship Increase in 1636. His son, Abraham, moved on to Rhode Island. The Chapter is named for Thomas, the son of Abraham.             Programs for the DAMES inform members on the living conditions, economic situations, religious beliefs, education and the circumstances they escaped from in their homeland in order to have a better life the New World.            The Thomas Joslin Chapter meets five times a year in September, November, January, March and May in the homes of the members.
